about

"Narrow was the second to last song on the album that we wrote but it seemed fitting to kick our EP off with one of our longest and heaviest songs to date. I started off the songwriting with a distorted drop-tuned riff that was inspired by some of the bands that first got me into music like Thrice and Thursday, and the rest of the song stemmed pretty naturally from there with a series of buildups and releases.

Lyrically, Narrow is an extremely personal song to me. It is primarily about friends that I lost touch with from my hometown, with some specific references to friends lost to drugs or suicide. It is about me wondering what might have happened if I had been more actively involved in their lives, or if I could have intervened in some way. And finally it is about the 'don't talk about it' attitude that many in my hometown seemed to breed when it came to mental health problems and addiction, sweeping it under the rug as if it was a stain on our community."

lyrics

Radio static - could you hear it?
Detachment in their voices
Breathlessly uttering your name.
I couldn't hear a sound when it all came down
From the rooftops above the city
Where you would spend your nights

I couldn't hear a thing,
As it flowed beneath me

Do you feel happiness
In your narrow veins?
In the channels and the bays
They all washed up in the same place

Pressure rising - can you feel it?
Like hands around your neck,
Eyes widen as the ground falls away
And the water rushes in
Some will dive in
But we're all afraid of the flood

I couldn't feel a thing
When you passed through me

Do you feel happiness
In your narrow veins?
In the channels and the bays
They all washed up in the same place

Radio static - can you hear it?
The crackles and moans,
The rushes and flows.
We tried to find it here,
But it all washed up in the same place.
