"This is one of our songs that was most equally written as a band. Whereas normally someone will bring an already fairly developed idea to the group, Flightless developed through jamming and riffing on an idea as a group. As it progressed, little pieces were kept and thrown away. The song has also undergone many more changes since we first wrote it than any other song here, and even what we play live is slightly different from what’s on the album.
Lyrically, it’s all about asking for forgiveness and redeeming yourself when you know you’ve made a mistake instead of perpetuating bad decisions. However, we all have people like that in our lives who continue to screw you over while they’re in the process of ruining their own life. This is what the bridge-part is about. Sometimes, at the very least, you deserve an apology, and some people are just not willing to ever give that you."

lyrics
Give me a shot to make this right
There have been too many times
I can't sleep through the night
And I wanna get over feeling so poor
I wanna know if there's something more
I've been thinking a lot
About when you asked
If maybe jumping off a bridge
Could be better than this
But what happens after that?
I don't want to be a part of your
Fucked up aftermath
Just because I said something years ago
Doesn't mean that I think it now
Things do change, I really do mean well
I'm just trying to get out
Help me help myself
Get out
But what happens after that?
I don't want to be a part of your
Fucked up aftermath
I don't wanna be caught up
In a bad situation again
I really did lie when I said
That I thought we could be friends
I feel so flightless cause I can't
Get you out of my head
It's after seven and
I still can't get out of bed
But what happens after that?
I don't want to be a part of your
Fucked up aftermath
